The Big Arts Weekend
8th - 9th November 2025
10am - 4:30pm
East Harptree Theatre
The second year running of the Big Arts Weekend was a fantastic success! Thank you to all the artists who took part, the exhibition looked incredible, and thank you to those who visited the show and supported the artists - there was a great buzz in the Village Hall!
For those who didn't visit, The Big Arts Weekend is a two day community exhibition located in the East Harptree Theatre and Arts Hub, featuring the work of eleven local artists, plus a gallery wall with works from a further nine artists. This was the second year of running the Big Arts Weekend. In October 2024 a similar group of artists came together to host their own exhibition and weekend of workshops in the absence of the Chew Valley Arts Trail, and it was such a success we wanted to bring it back to the Chew Valley!
👩🏽🎨Artists included Arts Hub artists in residence Amy Hutchings and Emma Powell, as well as local artists Patrick Barker, Ali Brown, John Darvill, Chris Head, Jackie Head, Kevin Hemmings, Cheryl Herrington, Mary Liddell and Pauline Palmer.
👩🎨Guest artists included Amy Hostler, Meg Lovell, Steve Thomas, Giuliana Terran, Alison Gibson, Sue Hemmings, Len Willis, Emilia Gonzalez and Keri Green (Arts Hub artist in residence 2024).
Art workshops this year included Winter Wonders (making your own winter scene) by Jackie Head and Ali Brown, Introduction to Soft Pastels by Kevin Hemmings and Cheryl Herrington, Flower and Leaf Lino Printing Workshop by Potts Cottage Collective (Jackie and Chris Head) - all sold out workshops with some amazing artworks taken home by participants.
Many of the artists also have artwork exhibited at the Waldegrave Arms Pub in East Harptree. For further information follow this page
